りんちゃんとmaya ongakuのライブを見に行った。DJや食事提供も行われるイベントの一環で、1時間のセットだった。費用は1,000円。安すぎる代わりに、ライブの開始時間はどこにも書いていないし、なんてことない缶のアルコールが1,100円もした。イベント自体の開始時間直後に入り、しばらく様子を見てから、夕飯を食べにりんちゃんと抜けた。ぼちぼち戻ると、会場が人でいっぱいになっていた。
個人的には、最初にやっていたアンビエント色の強い曲と、終盤にかけてビルドアップする勢いが一番強かった最後の曲が好きだった。帰ってからその二曲をサブスクで探したが、どれがそれらなのか結局わからなかった。バンドは9月からヨーロッパの方にツアーに行くらしい。帰り道、曲を聴きながら「すごいな」と思った。僕自身がヨーロッパでろくなことができなかったからか、活躍している人たちを見ると畏怖の念を覚える。あと嫉妬と、劣等感も覚える。そういうのは、これからの時間でうまくやりくりする必要がある。今はまだ、うまく扱えないけれど。
書き忘れたけど、イベントで飲み物を注文したとき、カウンターで受けてくれたお姉さんの歯が黄色っぽかったのが、なんというか少し嬉しかった。ヤニかな。いずれにしても、綺麗な人だと思った。
I went to see maya ongaku’s gig with a friend of mine. They did a one-hour set as part of an event that also had DJs and food. Entry was only ¥1,000. The downside of it being so cheap was that the start time for the live set wasn’t listed anywhere, and a can of mediocre alcohol I bought cost a fucking ¥1,100. We arrived just after the event began, hung around for a while to see what was happening, and then slipped out to get supper. By the time we wandered back, the venue was packed.
My personal favourites were the ambient-leaning track they opened with, and the final one which had the strongest sense of momentum, building steadily towards the end. When I got home, I tried to find those two tracks on apple music, but I never managed to work out which ones they were. Apparently, the band are heading off on a European tour in September. On the way home, I listened to their music and thought, “That’s incredible.” Perhaps because I didn’t manage to achieve much of anything during my own time in Europe, I feel a sense of awe whenever I see people doing well. I also feel jealous and inferior. Those are feelings I’ll have to learn to deal with as time goes on. I’m still not very good at handling them yet.
I forgot to mention this, but when I ordered a drink at the event, I noticed that the woman serving me at the counter had slightly yellowish teeth. For some reason, that made me a little happy. Perhaps they were stained from smoking. Either way, I thought she was beautiful.
